NFR’s Roger Trevino brings aerialist Nik Wallenda - and international attention - to Niagara Falls
Friday, June 15th, 2012
It was the most exciting event to take place in Niagara Falls in decades – and NFR’s Roger Trevino was proud to play a role. On June 15, 2012, hundreds of thousands of area residents on both sides of the Falls – along with a live television audience of tens of millions worldwide – watched as Wallenda, a member of the famed “Flying Wallendas” family of aerialists, became the first person to walk on a tightrope over Niagara Falls.
The journey, which brought Niagara Falls international acclaim, actually began in October 2010, when Wallenda was approached Trevino at an amusement trade show in Orlando with the idea. The Buffalo Newscalled Trevino “The Man Behind The Falls Walk,” in a front page story on Trevino’s role in getting Wallenda to the falls for his historic walk, while the Niagara Gazette reported the story under the headline, “Roger And Nik: How The Wirewalker Got His Shot At Walking Over Niagara Falls.”
For NFR’s Trevino, who was once the sports agent for Hall Of Fame NFL quarterback Jim Kelly, the Wallenda walk is another chapter in a history of successfully marketing and promotional efforts.
